Don’t get me wrong….my marriage is amazing! My hubby is amazing!! BUT, I feel that anything can be improved. Everything can be made better somehow. This week’s challenge is dealing with praying for your husband.
Well….I can’t use the wedding ring as a reminder because I lost a diamond out of mine last year and haven’t yet had the extra money to get it fixed 🙁 BUT, I do have other reminders throughout the day to pray for my hubby.
I get up every morning with my hubby and make his coffee and his lunch. Then we spend a few cuddle moments before he leaves for the day. During that time, I silently pray that God will keep him safe, both on the road and while working. I pray that he will keep him physically healthy and give him a productive day. I also pray that he will keep his stress to a minimal level as he deals with the in’s and out’s of starting a business from scratch. I pray that he will turn to, and trust, God for whatever needs he may encounter during his day.
I also say a little prayer any time I hear from him throughout the day. Just a quick little ‘Lord, be with him’ or ‘Lord, encourage him and let him feel You near’. Nothing really over the top, but enough to be in constant prayer for him throughout the day. (My girls pray for him when they pray before meals, too 🙂
I also say a little prayer of gratitude when I hear his big ‘ol loud diesel truck pull in our driveway at night. “Thank you, Lord, for seeing it fit to bring him home safely to us for one more day.” Gratitude prayers are just as important, if you ask me. I often find myself just saying a simple “Thank you, God, for him” when he does or says something sweet or while I watch him interact with our children or while I watch him sleep. I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am for him or the man he’s become in our 16+ years together. I truly get all mushy over him all.the.time 🙂 Yep, I’m cheesy (and crazy in love) 🙂
I’ve read The Power of a Praying Wife a few times. I will probably read it more. I love it. There’s so much to learn in there and so much to apply. (It has also taught me to pray to change ME, not HIM….makes a huge difference when you stop praying for God to ‘wake him up‘….BUT, that’s a whole different post 😉
I would love for you to join in the challenge with me….what ‘triggers’ you to pray for your hubby?
